This essay was definitely the most difficult to me. I wrote this piece on a site called footballforumuk.com and documented my findings and literacy patterns on the community. I found many similarities when compared to Mirabelli, Gee, and Wardle's work. The diffculty was trying to analyze a specific audeince as there was only one particular audeince in mind. With the other essays there was a specific theme or reference to conmpare to however this one involved more research to me which i found far more diffcult.
The research was difficult to obtain, especially considering the fact that i was looking for rhetoric strategies within a sports community. To me i focused on the discourse and identity mostly using the work of Gee and Wardle. The number one diffculty i had was trying to directly following a theme or plot and in my opinion my work was vague and not my best. This was a part i need to work on and found that trying to apply my own research with another authors research was quite difficult.
Despite this, i was still happy with the niche of the discourse being vital to establishing an identity in the community and felt that i proofed this very well. Although, i was disappointed at mylack of evidence to support this, in particulat trying to pull information out of everday conversations. The information i did pull out i found extremely difficult to try to pertain back to the theme. This was definitely my weakest essay but did reveal that i need to improve my research skills especially when i will be moving to ENC 1102 where this is a much higher emphasize on research and primary sources.
